Ashley Porter

Ashley was hostessing at a local restaurant and although she enjoyed working with people in a busy environment she felt something was missing.  After taking some time and doing a little soul searching she kept coming back to her passion - animals.  Growing up on a farm encouraged Ashley to take an interest in animals from a young age.  She was surrounded by pigs, chickens, horses, birds, dogs, cats and even reptiles.  This included her special friend, a gecko named Christine that went with her everywhere. 

Once Ashley figured out that she wanted to pursue a career working with animals she wasted no time in volunteering for the L.A.Zoo and getting a job here at All Animals.  You can tell by her smile that she loves working here.  She says she feels lucky to enjoy coming to work every day and learning about all the different animals we treat.  Let me tell you, we are the lucky one's!  Ashley has been here since March but became a member of our All Animals team right away.  From planning bowling nights to participating in our charity events we all know we can count on her.

Ashley is owned by a wonderful dog named Venice who found her way into her heart after being dropped off at her husband's fire station.  Venice is half Vizsla, half Husky and all around a very sweet girl.  She even accompanied us on our Nuts for Mutts Walk this year!
